Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking a passionate, student-centered High School History Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction in U.S. History and Economics & Personal Finance while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world connections in the classroom.
Position Responsibilities
- Teach High School U.S. History and Economics & Personal Finance courses aligned with North Carolina standards
- Develop engaging, rigorous, and student-focused lesson plans
- Create a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievement and citizenship
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to support diverse learners
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support school initiatives and student success
- Participate in professional development, school events, and faculty responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Social Studies, or related field
- Valid North Carolina teaching license or ability to obtain licensure
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Commitment to academic excellence and student growth
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced school environment
- AP teaching experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) coursework
- Knowledge of North Carolina Social Studies standards
- Experience integrating real-world applications and project-based learning into instruction
