Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking a passionate, student-centered High School History Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction in U.S. History and Economics & Personal Finance while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world connections in the classroom.

Position Responsibilities

• Teach High School U.S. History and Economics & Personal Finance courses aligned with North Carolina standards
• Develop engaging, rigorous, and student-focused lesson plans
• Create a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievement and citizenship
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to support diverse learners
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support school initiatives and student success
• Participate in professional development, school events, and faculty responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Social Studies, or related field
• Valid North Carolina teaching license or ability to obtain licensure
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Commitment to academic excellence and student growth
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced school environment
• AP teaching experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) coursework
• Knowledge of North Carolina Social Studies standards
• Experience integrating real-world applications and project-based learning into instruction
